Worm Gear Hobs
One of our top sellers, worm gear hobs can be produced with minimum effort on a lathe or drill press. The basic procedure entails the construction of a rigid fixture that holds a blank disk free to rotate against a standard tap. This is held in the chuck of the drill press or lathe, serving as the hob for cutting the teeth. Worm gear hobs may be supplied either ground or unground for roughing or finishing. These hobs are produced commercially on a gear generator and are suitable for mounting directly onto the polar axle of a moderately sized equatorial mount. Pitch, pressure angle and additional specifications can be made to suit your application needs. Worm gear hobs come in shank and shell types.
